The Essence of Blogging

Sticking with the comics theme, Doonesbury has really gotten to the essense of blogging this week. Read the strips from yesterday and today and see for yourself. I've decided to take the high road and not publish a review of the Krispy Kreme donut of the month. I still can't figure out what is so great about Krispy Kreme donuts anyway. I'm not donut conoisseur, but if you ask me, they are no better, and possibly, worse than your average, run-of-the-mill donut.

I'm with you on Krispy Kreme. I think it's been at least a year since I've eaten a donut of any kind, but I remember the first time I ate a Krispy Kreme, feeling certain that I was about to experience nirvana, and feeling...nothing. It tasted like a plain donut. When and if I have another donut, I'd rather have Dunkin' Donuts than Krispy Kreme any old day of the motherfuckin' week.

Strong words, but I'm glad that I'm not the only one who is mystified by the Krispy Kreme phenomenon. Several years ago, I had a co-worker who was also not buying the Krispy Kreme hype and placed a call to his stockbroker to short their stock. He made this call from an office shared by about ten of us, so once we caught wind of this, we all started yelling out donut orders in the background. It seemed pretty funny at the time.
